Joe Shea gave me this sculpture recently. It's incredible. If you are not familiar with his work, check out his website. www.jshea9.com He has a show at Compound in April. If you are in Portland, come on by Compound. He will have a bunch of new sculptures in the front gallery.
My second good thing is one of the mice from the film Coraline. The mouse circus was one of my favorite scenes. If you have not seen the movie....... go now.... in 3D.
I was born deep in the heartland of America. In Indiana that heart beats with corn and basketball, but mine did not. After a stellar career of attending punk shows and playing drums in instantly forgettable bands, I attended art school at Indiana University. I moved to Montana in order to live the utopian wilderness art dream, only to find my neighbor drunk as a skunk throwing rocks at my fence screaming that I was on his land. Then the clouds parted and Portland Oregon appeared. I love this city. Now I make art and curate art shows. I was previously the curator at Moshi Moshi gallery in Portland before becoming the curator at Compound Gallery.
My goal is simple. Seek out great art and let everyone know about it. Bring the artist and the art lover together. Allow the artist to grow and enjoy the rewards.
